She Was Listening

A couple of weeks ago, a Muslim woman in Central Asia was listening to one of our programs when something caught her attention. The program was discussing prayer and religious traditions, and afterward, she reached out to our team. She told us that the topic was very interesting to her, especially when we discussed how, for God, the condition of our heart is more important than what we wear on the outside.

That simple interaction demonstrated a truth we find throughout Scripture. In 1 Samuel 16:7, when Samuel was looking at David’s brothers, God reminded him:

“Man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart”

God is not ultimately concerned with outward appearance, clothing, or religious traditions. He looks at the heart. And that is one of the reasons we broadcast, to bring biblical truth to light and help people see what God truly desires from them.

Through our programs, we have the opportunity to engage people with truths they may have never considered before. What began as a conversation about prayer opened a door for this woman to think more deeply about God, the condition of her heart, and what He truly desires.

That is why we keep sharing. Because she was listening.

When Radio Is The Only Way

In a remote village, access to the Gospel can look very different than it does for many of us. Recently, we heard from a couple (pictured below) who regularly listen to our radio programs. Their testimony is a beautiful reminder that the ministry of Gospel Broadcasting Mission is not simply about transmitting programs. It is about proclaiming Jesus Christ and bringing the truth of God’s Word to people who need to hear it.

For these listeners, the radio is more than a convenient way to hear Christian teaching. It is their only way. Their village (pictured) has no internet access. There are no online sermons to stream, no podcasts to download, and no social media videos to watch. Yet, through a simple radio, they can hear the message of God’s Word in their own heart language. And they are listening! They shared how the programs have encouraged them and strengthened them in their faith. What may seem like an ordinary radio broadcast from our perspective is, for them, an opportunity to hear biblical truth, be encouraged, and grow in their understanding of Jesus.

We live in a world where often radio can seem like an outdated technology. With smartphones, streaming services, social media, and podcasts everywhere, it is easy to assume that radio has become less important. But in many parts of the world, that simply isn't true

In rural and remote communities, radio remains one of the most accessible and reliable ways to communicate across difficult terrain, limited infrastructure, political barriers, and places where internet access is unavailable or restricted. And when that radio carries the Gospel, its impact can reach far beyond the broadcast itself.

A husband and wife can listen together. Children can hear biblical truth. Families can be encouraged in their faith. Believers who may feel isolated can be reminded that they are not alone. And people who have never had meaningful access to Christian teaching can hear the message of Jesus Christ in their own language.

We may never know every person who listens. We may never see every life that is changed. But stories like this give us a glimpse of what God is doing through our broadcasts.

That is why radio remains so important to our global ministry. We are not simply trying to preserve an old method of communication. We are using every effective means available to proclaim the hope of the Gospel to people who need to hear it. For these listeners, radio is not just viable. It is critical.

A Word From Our Director

As I think about the work of Gospel Broadcasting Mission, I continually reflect deeply on one question: Are we living worthy of the calling God has given us, faithfully aligning our ministry with His Word and His purposes?

Paul prayed this very thing for the believers in Thessalonica: “May our God make you worthy of his calling and may he fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified by you” (2 Thessalonians 1:11–12).

That is more than a prayer for what we do. It is a prayer for how we live. God has called each of us to something greater than simply moving through life. He has given us gifts, opportunities, resources, and a purpose, and He desires that our lives be used for things that matter eternally.

At Gospel Broadcasting Mission, we want to faithfully live out that calling. We want to make an impact for the Kingdom, go to places where Christ is not known, and bring glory to His name. That is why we continue taking steps toward establishing new broadcasts among unreached and unchurched people around the world.

Over the past three months, we have made significant progress in establishing a team and broadcasting plans among the G* people of Indonesia. From a vision trip earlier this year to now experiencing the Lord open doors for the beginning of what we believe will become an established ministry team, we are seeing progress. There is still work ahead, but each step represents an act of faith and an opportunity to proclaim salvation in Jesus name, to a people who have never heard.

Proclaiming Christ to the nations is not only the calling of missionaries or ministry organizations, it is the calling of the Church, and of every person who calls Jesus Lord. For some, that may mean going. For others, it may mean giving, praying, encouraging, or using the gifts God has entrusted to them right where they are. What matters is not whether our calling looks like someone else’s, but whether we are faithfully responding to the calling God has placed before us.

I want my life, and this ministry, to count for something that matters, not simply for today, but for eternity. I want to invest our time, energy, and resources in things that will make the angels rejoice.

I am grateful that you are part of this work. Through your prayers, giving, encouragement, and partnership, you help make it possible for us to continue taking these steps of faith and bringing the Gospel to people who have had little opportunity to hear it.

My prayer is that together we would live worthy of the calling we have received, step out in faith, and use what God has entrusted to us for the glory of King Jesus.
